ACS880-607LC Liquid-Cooled Brake Chopper Unit

Brand: ABB Group

Brake unit is used for resistor braking.

It handles the energy generated by decelerating motors for example in emergency stopping.

Whenever the voltage in the common DC bus exceeds a certain limit, a braking chopper connects the bus to a braking resistor.

Offering includes 1-phase brake unit and 3-phase dynamic brake unit (DBU) which utilizes R8i modules.

Two different braking concepts. The main difference between the concepts is controllability:
  • One-phase brake chopper, on-off controlled (no modulation), brake current depends only on the resistance of the brake resistor. Compact and cost efficient. Used mostly in single drives.
  • Three-phase brake unit with modulating control. Brake current/power is controlled. Used mostly in multidrives.
Features
  • Compact
  • Easy installation
  • High instantaneous braking capability
  • Designed for both single drive configurations and common DC bus drives
  • Customized product that fulfills your needs
